About Our Club

Serving the Community Today

Operating as a local charity since 1933, the Club continues its long-standing mission of supporting and improving the lives of people in Wallyford — particularly those connected to the mining community.

Today, the Club provides welcoming facilities that promote recreation, wellbeing, inclusion and community development. We host a wide range of activities including:

  • Live entertainment and social evenings

  • Charity fundraising events

  • Family celebrations and private functions

  • Sporting activities and community gatherings

Our facilities have evolved with the times while remaining true to our roots. We are committed to creating a welcoming, accessible and family-friendly environment for all ages — ensuring the Club remains a vibrant hub for both long-standing members and new generations alike.

Our Heritage in the Landscape

Wallyford’s mining legacy can still be seen throughout the village. Memorial tributes and heritage events continue to honour the contributions and sacrifices of local mining families, keeping their stories alive for future generations.

Rooted in the Past, Thriving in the Present

The Wallyford Miners Welfare Society & Social Club is more than just a venue — it is a living symbol of community strength and shared history.

Whether you’re joining us for entertainment, attending a community event, celebrating with family and friends, or simply enjoying good company, you become part of a story that spans centuries — and continues to grow.

The Wallyford Miners Welfare Society & Social Club sits at the heart of our village — a place shaped by generations of hardworking mining families and built on community spirit. Since the early days of Wallyford’s coal mining heritage, the Club has been a gathering place where friendships are formed, milestones are celebrated, and neighbours come together.

Originally established to serve the local mining community, the Club has evolved with the village while staying true to its roots. For decades it has hosted social events, sporting activities, family functions and important community gatherings — always providing a welcoming space for people of all ages.

Today, the Club continues to honour its proud heritage while looking forward to the future. Whether you’re joining us for entertainment, a celebration, or simply good company, you’re part of a tradition of resilience and community spirit that continues to thrive.
